Happy World Poetry Day

I write to escape reality's grip,

To flee from life's incessant trip.

In my books, the world is black and white,

But I want to be the shades of grey in sight.

As the only child of my parents' domain,

My thoughts remained trapped, they caused me pain.

I had no one of my age bracket to talk to,

So I penned my musings, a world to construe.

With pen and paper as my only mate,

I poured out my heart without any wait.

My words spoke volumes, my emotions came alive,

Through my poems, my soul was able to thrive.

For when my world was bleak and bare,

My words lifted me up, they took me there.

To a place of wonder, a world of my own,

Where my dreams were free to roam and roam.

So I write to escape reality's grasp,

To free my soul from life's harsh clasp.

My pen and paper give me wings to fly,

And in my poems, I find the reason to try.
